Our second bedroom (approximately 12′ x 10′) has an odd configuration; there is only one wall not dominated by doors, thus, limiting the layout possibilities—and the room’s main access is through two pocket doors off the living room. Did I mention the pocket doors barely work?! It takes some serious muscles to get them out and even more to push them back in. (Oh, the joys of renting!) So, while I wait for the crib’s arrival, I figure I better start working out the furniture layout options. I am, also, hoping to use as much existing furniture to keep costs down.
I am on the fence about a glider/rocker and would love any feedback from other parents about if they feel it’s a “love it”- or “leave it”-type item. I have had a few friends invest in one and tell me they rarely sat in it, and, clearly, reusing an existing chair would save me lots of moolah!
The symmetry of layout no. 01 is where I’m leaning now, however, I’m not sure how to accommodate the changing tray since the Alex Drawer Units are not long enough to hold one. If I place the two side-by-side, it would work, but I lose the symmetrical flanking of the crib. Hmm. I could also swap out the Alex Drawer Units for a single, large dresser I have currently in the bedroom, but I’d want to paint it—not sure I want to add another project to my (growing) list of to-dos before Mini Stets’ arrival!
I’ll certainly let you know the final layout decision!
